VITAS Innovative Hospice Care is a center specializing in hospice care or palliative care. It was first established in 1978 and is now considered one of the leading hospice centers in the country. Their mission or overall goal is to maintain the quality of life of those who do not have much time to live (VITAS, n.d). This center provides adult and pediatric services covering a wide range of chronic care illnesses including (but not limited to) cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung, liver, and kidney disease, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Alzheimer’s disease, and AIDS. This center focuses in providing relief from the physical symptoms of their disease, especially pain, and also in providing emotional support and therapy for patients (VITAS, n.d).
